This is the one day that we should put to one side for our mums and where possible, while adhering to the Government guidelines, go the extra mile for them. What better way to do that than with some lovely, barbecued food?
With the end (hopefully) insight and a return to normal now on the horizon, we thought we’d take you through some perfect BBQ recipes to celebrate Mother’s Day in style this year. Obviously, we urge everyone to adhere to and stay within the Government guidelines of bubbles and social distancing, unless you still live at home with your parent or parents. In which case, this is perfect for a Mother’s Day surprise.
Basil and Tomato Chicken Breast
Perhaps not the most obvious thing you think of when it comes to barbecued food, but these basil and tomato chicken breasts are perfect if you’re looking for a simple yet satisfying meal.
It’s an Italian inspired combination of tomatoes, basil, and balsamic vinegar. As mentioned, if you’re looking for an easy main dish to prep, this is the one. Find the recipe and prep instructions here.
Barbecued Fruit
This is another one that is a bit out of left field, but barbecued fruit is great. If you’re looking for some starters or perhaps something to serve up as a desert, then barbecued fruit would be perfect.
The heat helps to caramelise the natural sugar and it’s quick and easy to prep. From plums and watermelon to peaches, bananas and apples, the options are vast. You could even make a mixed fruit kebab. For some inspiration, check these recipes out.
Panzanella Salad
A bit more of an Italian feel here. Panzanella is quite simply, a salad that incorporates bread and fresh vegetables. It’s Tuscan in origin but there’s no reason that it can’t be enjoyed with the classic unpredictable English weather.
The only things you will need for this are stale bread and the most ripe, fresh tomatoes you can get your hands on. To read more about Panzanella salad, give this a click.
“Indian” Seekh (Lamb) Kebabs
You can bring a real Indian takeaway feel to your Mother’s Day this year with these juicy lamb kebabs done on the barbecue.
Packed full of flavour from the coriander and chilli, finished off by being wrapped up in naan bread with sliced cucumber, raita and a pickled red onion salad, this is a dish that’s not too heavy but nice and refreshing.

Barbecued Lemon & Dill Salmon Fillets
We’ve talked about barbecued fish in the past here at Cinders, but this is without doubt, a favourite. It’s probably been enjoyed in the kitchen by many but cooking this on your barbecue enhances the flavour tenfold (in our opinion).
For the lowdown on this refreshing but tasty recipe, here you go.
